1. Background:
Lions Manaram Pratisthan 2005 A.D Nepal Bikram Sambat is a purely non-governmental social organization registered in the District Administration Office, Kathmandu as per the Institution Registration Act, 2034 BS. (1977) B.Sc. In 2067 (2010), Rajan Lamsal, the current Secretary General of the Lions, attended the International Convention in Seattle, USA as the Multiple Council Chairperson of the Lions. After discussions with Shrestha, life member Suman Kumar Shrestha and life member Indu Lamsal, it was decided to set up a fund for education development in Nepal.
Ram Bahadur Shrestha, the founding president of Lions Manaram Pratishthan 2005 A.D Nepal, was born on January 26, 2005 A.D in Sankhuwasabha district, Khandbari, Dhungedhara. He was the second son of Surya Bahadur Shrestha and his mother Chhand Kumari Shrestha. He was interested in social work from an early age and had the ability to take the lead in the work he did. Therefore, at the age of 16/17, he led the work of bringing teachers from India under the direction of his father for the educational development of the community, which is still a topic of discussion in Khandbari.
He believed that politics should guide the society. Therefore, in the panchayat system, he remained in the farmers’ organization and became the central joint secretary. After the emergence of multi-party system in 2047 BS (1992), he naturally joined the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. But he was friendly with people from all political parties. He is the one who led the all-party delegation to keep the demand of the people of Sankhuwasabha district intact in the federal structure.
“To receive education is every child’s birthright.” I would like to extend my reverence to the foundation’s honorable Founder President Late Mr. Ram Bahadur Shrestha, who drew out plans and laid a foundation to transform this vision into reality and always guided us in the right direction. It is said that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. But children can be leaders only when they are raised with proper care and nurture, valuable education, health facilities and good moral values.
Meanwhile, we are pleased to announce that with our Foundation’s cooperation, 154 libraries in 77 districts have been established till date. This year, we look forward to establish Manaram Libraries in the rest of the Sankhuwasabha secondary and higher secondary schools and cooperate with the local education office and various other concerned parties in Sankhu…
