Keeping in view the role of music in children’s overall development, Lions Manaram Foundation has been aiding in organizing Manaram Kopila Idol, a children’s singing competition in Khadbari, headquarter of Sankhuwasabha District from 24th Shrawan.
The competition open to students up to the 10th grade is possibly the first of its kind in the district. An initiative that started with a motto of “Recognizing talent in creativity and participation and conservation of music and arts heritage”, this competition had participants from Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts. The children’s production team at Khadbari FM collaborated with us for the event organization.
The auditions ran for 3 months and after rigorous competition, the even culminated with the final round being held on Krishna Janmashtami, the 19th of Bhadra, 2072 where Unique Kulung, Rinji Lhamu Bhutia and Sudesh Rai took home a cash prize of Rs. 33,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 11,000 as they stood first, second and third respectively.
